Duplicate Test Cases

Duplicating Test Cases saves users from re-entering information.

To copy an entire Test Case folder to the same Test Plan:

    1. Click Test Designer.
      Test Designer
    2. Search for the Test Plan with the folder you want to duplicate.
    3. Click to select the Test Plan in the left-hand column.

      Test Designer only displays Active Test Plans.
    4. Click the Folders View button. 
    5. Click the Test Case Folders tab.
    6. Click Test Case Library.
    7. Search for the same Test Plan.
    8. Hover your mouse cursor over the Test Case folder until the sort handleSort Handle Stryka (six gray dots) appears.
    9. Drag the folder full of Test Cases that you want to copy into the Test Case Folders tab.

      A gray box will appear where the folder can be dropped.
    10. Drop the folder into the gray box.

Users need the Test Case Create user permission.

Duplicating a Test Case in the Requirements or Test Case Folders tabs makes the duplicate appear in the same Requirement or Test Case Folder as the original.

To duplicate a Test Case in the Requirements or Test Case Folders tabs:

      1. Click Test Designer.
        Test Designer
      2. Click the folders button. 
      3. Locate the Test Case by:
        1. Clicking the Test Plan.
        2. Locating the Test Case in the Requirements or Test Case Folders tabs.

      4. Hover your mouse cursor over the Test Case until the buttons appear.
      5. Click the duplicate (or copy) button. Copy button Stryka
        The Test Case will be duplicated in the same folder or Requirement, with _Copy added to the end of the title.

Duplicating a Test Case in the Test Case Library will duplicate the Test Case’s Requirements so that the duplicate appears under Requirements tab next to the original. But if the Test Case also has a Test Case Folder location, this will not be duplicated.

To duplicate a Test Case in the Test Case Library:

      1. Click Test Designer.
        Test Designer
      2. Click the folders button. 
      3. Click Test Case Library.
      4. Click to select a Test Plan from the drop down menu.
      5. Click the Associated tab.
      6. Hover your mouse cursor over the Test Case until the buttons appear.
      7. Click the duplicate (or copy) button.

If the dragged and dropped Test Case does not already exist in the Requirement or Test Case Folder, it will be added instead of copied.

To duplicate a Test Case by dragging and dropping:

      1. Click Test Designer.
        Test Designer
      2. Click the folders button. 
      3. Locate the Test Case you would like to copy by:
        1. Clicking the Test Plan.
        2. Locating the Test Case in the Requirements or Test Case Folders tabs.
      4. Click Test Case Library.
      5. Click to select the same Test Plan from the drop down menu.
      6. Click the Associated tab.
      7. Drag and drop a Test Case from under the Associated tab into the Test Cases panel.

      8. Click Confirm to confirm that you would like to make a copy.
