Release Type Customization

Release Types are selected when adding or editing an Enterprise, Project, or Independent Release.

Location of Release Types

Release Types are found on the Details tab of the Enterprise, Project, or Independent Release pop ups.

To locate Release Types:

  1. Go to Release > Manager.
  2. Click the Releases toggle button (if present).
  3. Click to open a Release.
  4. The Release Type drop-down menu is in the Details panel under the first tab (ReleaseProject, or Independent).

 

Add a Release Type

To add a Release Type:

  1. Go to Settings > Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Type.
  3. Click Add Field.
  4. Type the new Release Type.
  5. Double click the Color column and select a color from the drop-down menu or enter a Hex value.
    Releases will show this color in the Release Calendar and the Release Schedule (with Hide Phases Breakdown selected).
  6. Click to select a Category:
    • Major: A new software version containing changes to the architecture as well as new, large features.
    • Minor: A new software version containing small features and bug fixes.
    • Patch: A new software version containing small bug fixes.
    • Hotfix: An emergency software version containing a specific fix for production incidents and critical defects.
  7. Click to select one or more of the Default checkboxes if the item is the default for Enterprise Enterprise, Project Project or Independent Independent Releases.
  8. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

Edit a Release Type

To edit a Release Type:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Type.
  3. Double click the Value column and edit the Release Type.
  4. Double click the Color column and select a color from the drop-down menu or enter a Hex value.
    Releases will show this color in the Release Calendar and the Release Schedule (with Hide Phases Breakdown selected).
  5. Click to select a Category:
    • Major: A new software version containing changes to the architecture as well as new, large features.

  6. Click to select or deselect one or more of the Default Enterprise Enterprise, Project Project or Independent Independent Releases checkboxes.

Sort Release Types

Sort Manually

Sorting Release Types manually changes their order in drop-down menus.

Refresh your browser to sort manually after sorting alphabetically. 

To sort Release Types manually:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Type.
  3. Hover your mouse cursor over the sort column.
    The sort handle (six gray dots) appears.
  4. Left click and drag the sort handle to resort the Release Type.
  5. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

Sort by Column Header

Sorting Release Types by column header only changes their order on the Customization page.

To sort alphabetically on the Customization page by column header:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Type.
  3. Click a column header.
    The Release Types will revert to their previous order when you click away from the Customization page.

Delete or Replace a Release Type

Deleting a Release Type will not delete it from Release records. But it will no longer be available when adding or editing a Release.

Replacing a Release Type will replace it in existing Release records.

To delete or replace a Release Type:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Type.
  3. Click to select the Release Type.
  4. Click Delete Field.
  5. Choose one of the following:
    1. Delete and Replace:
      1. Select the item that will replace the deleted Release Type from Replace with.
      2. Click Delete and Replace.
        Your updates will be automatically saved. There is no need to click Submit.
    2. Delete:
      1. Click Delete.
        Your updates will be automatically saved. There is no need to click Submit.

Enforce Release Type Standard Colors across Plutora

If the Enforce Release Type Standard Colors across Plutora checkbox is not checked, users can add their own scheduler colors using the Scheduler Color field under the Type drop-down menu in  Enterprise, Project, or Independent Releases.

When users can add their own Hex color to Releases, Plutora will no longer display standard colors for each Release Type.

To prevent users from adding their own Hex color to Release Types:

  1. Click to select the Enforce Release Type Standard Colors across Plutora checkbox.
    When checked, the Scheduler Color field on Releases will no longer be editable.
  2. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

Update existing release types to match Standard Colors

Release Types may have non-standard colors if users have been adding their own Hex colors.

To change all non-standard colors back to the standard Release Type colors:

  1. Click Update existing release types to match Standard Colors.
  2. Click Yes.
