Release Package Customization

Release Packages are a way of grouping Releases to assist in better reporting and filtering.

When Release Packages are enabled, if an Enterprise, Project, or Independent Release has its Implementation Date, or System Deployment Start Date and End Date, within the date range of a Release Package, that Release will be added to the Release Package.

Releases can belong to multiple Release Packages.

Location of Release Packages

To locate Release Packages:

  1. Go to Release > Manager.
  2. Click the Releases toggle button (if present).
  3. When enabled, Release Packages is a:
    • Column (usually on the left) in Release Manager.
    • Field in the Date panel under the first tab (Enterprise, Project, or Independent) of Release pop ups:

      • Release Package field is not editable.
      • It displays the Release Packages with date ranges that include the Implementation Date.

Enable Release Packages

The Release Packages column will only appear on the Release Manager if Enable Release Package is checked.

To enable Release Packages:

  1. Go to Settings > Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click to select the Enable Release Package checkbox.
  4. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

View Release Packages by Year

To view Release Packages by year:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click to open the View By Year combo box to select Release Phases by their Year field.
  4. Click to select the year checkboxes.
  5. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

Add a Release Package

To add a Release Package:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click Add Field.
  4. Type the new Release Package in the Value field.
  5. Double click Year and select a year from the drop-down menu.
  6. Double click StartDate and select a start date from the drop-down menu.
  7. Double click EndDate and select an end date from the drop-down menu.
     StartDate and EndDate do not need to correspond to the Year field but it is easier to view Release Packages if they do. 
  8. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

Bulk Add Release Packages

To bulk add sequential Release Packages, instead of adding them one by one:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click Bulk Add Release Packages.
  4. Click Select Start Date and select a start date.
  5. Click Select End Date and select an end date.
  6. Click Select Release Package Frequency and choose a time period.
  7. Type a Release Package name into Use Naming Convention.
    If you type xx they will be replaced by auto-sequential numbers.
  8. Click Preview.
  9. Click Save & Close.
  10. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

Edit a Release Package

To edit a Release Package:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click to select the Release Package.
  4. Click Edit Field.
  5. Type the new Release Package in the Value field.
  6. Double click Year and select a year from the drop-down menu.
  7. Double click StartDate and select a start date from the drop-down menu.
  8. Double click EndDate and select an end date from the drop-down menu.
     StartDate and EndDate do not need to correspond to the Year field but it is easier to view Release Packages if they do. 
  9. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

 

 

Sort Release Packages

Sort Manually

Sorting Release Packages manually changes their order in drop-down menus.

Refresh your browser to sort manually after sorting alphabetically. 

To sort Release Packages manually:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Hover your mouse cursor over the sort column.
    The sort handle (six gray dots) appears.
  4. Left click and drag the sort handle to resort the Release Package.
  5. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.

Sort by Column Header

Sorting Release Packages by column header only changes their order on the Customization page.

To sort alphabetically on the Customization page by column header:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click a column header.
    The Release Packages will revert to their previous order when you click away from the Customization page.

 

 

Delete a Release Package

Deleting a Release Package  will not delete it from Releases. But it will no longer be available when creating new Releases.

To delete a Release Package:

  1. Go to Settings> Customization > Releases.
  2. Click Release Package.
  3. Click to select the Release Package.
  4. Click Delete Field.
  5. Click Submit.
    The yellow Your changes have been saved pop up opens and closes.
    If you click away from the Customization page without clicking Submit, your changes will not save.
