Bulk Update Defects

Users can save time by bulk updating Defects.
Users need the Defects Bulk Update user permission to access the Bulk Update button. 

1. Filter and Search Defects

To bulk update Defects:

  1. Click Defects.
    Defects
  2. Filter and Advanced Search for the Defects you would like to bulk update:
    • If no filters or search parameters are applied, ALL Defects will be included in the bulk update.
    • Use the grid column filters, the Project/Release combo box or Advanced Search.
    • The filtered number of Defects is shown next to the title of the page.
  3. Click Bulk Update.

 

2. Select Items Tab

  1. Manage the Select Items tab:
    • View the grid filters and advanced search parameters already applied.
    • Filter the Defects to be bulk updated further by deselecting checkboxes.
  2. Click Next.

 

3. Editing Tab

The Editing tab contains the fields that are available for users to update:

  1. Manage the Editing tab:
    1. Add data:
      1. Update one or more fields with new data.

        For example, change the Project/Release by selecting a Release from the Change Project/Release drop-down menu.
        To update the Status field, the Type must be the same for all Defects. Update Type (if necessary) before updating Status.
    2. Remove data:
      1. Click Reset to remove added data.
  2. Click Next.

 

4. Confirmation Tab

The Confirmation tab shows what Defects will be updated and what changes will be made.

  1. Manage Confirmation tab:
    1. The Confirmation tab shows:
      • What Defects will be updated.
      • What data will be changed.
    2. To send email notifications of the bulk update:
      Email notifications are disabled by default, as large bulk updates could potentially send hundreds of emails.

      1. Click to select Send email notifications.
  2. Click Submit to perform the bulk update.

 

5. Summary Tab

The Summary tab lists all the changes that have taken place in the bulk update.

Click Close to close the bulk update pop up.

 

6. Bulk Update Results in the Grid

Once the bulk update pop up is closed, the filtered, updated Defects will appear in the grid. (If the changed data is in hidden columns, the changes will not show unless those columns are made visible.)
